Update

Ok, so my project is taking a bit of a back seat at the moment with the exams coming up. However thankfully we only have two exams for Christmas so I will be able to spend the rest of the exam week working on my project and then throughout the Christmas break as well.

With all the changes I have decided to make to my project I have been working on more research into the child care specific area and the child psychology. I am also currently working on the background code but I have to wait until the touch screen monitor has been installed into the multimedia lab before I can test it fully. So hopefully it will be working after Christmas (fingers crossed!)

The Technology

A wireless interactive board in each of the different rooms controlled by the base computer in the managers office.

Changes

So my research report is finally completed and had to present my findings to the class on Wednesday morning (and I survived!!!) but I was advised by my lectures to take in a more of a commercial route. So instead of developing it for homes I will focus it towards child care facilities. Developing it in this way leaves me with endless possibilities. So now the problem is trying to condense my ideas in an effective way to make it the best for my project.

Update...

OK so this week I had a meeting with the Database genius that is Nick Brady so I have all my database tables planned and ready to normalise (as fun as that will be!). Thanks Nick!

Also my research report is due next weeks so spend yesterday evening interviewing parents at a local crèche they were all very helpful and I got some great ideas to help me develop my software further.

My Project Proposal has been submitted and it has been approved! So thankfully my supervisor have more faith in me than the voters on my poll!!! So I am now going ahead with the in depth research into my idea. The week off was a great chance to get it started and catch up on some much needed sleep!!!

More application ideas

The applications I wish to design will include:
A diary/ organiser application that can be used to track feeding, nappy changes and sleep. A photo album that can store and display digital photographs of the baby, its family and friends. A digital growth chart to keep a record of a child's height and weight at specific times. An interactive timeline to see a child's life at a glance and see all they have accomplished and achieved. Also a number of games that as the baby gets a little older, can play on the panel such as a doodle board for the child to draw on screen, a touch piano that plays musical notes and an animal sounds game that will teach the child different animal sounds.

My Idea

My idea is to create an interactive panel for a child or baby's room. It will have a number of applications on it. For example a temperature reader, a diary to keep records of all babies big events and an on screen photo album. At the moment allot of research is still being done (given why there is no proper title of this blog for now!).
